Reporting from the field – Cellocator at IoT Tech Expo

Shimon Kintzlinger, Cellocator's product line manager was at IoT Tech Expo Europe which took place in London, February 10-11, 2016.

This event introduced and explored the latest innovations in the Internet of Things arena, bringing together key industries (manufacturing, transport, health, logistics, government, energy and automotive) from across Europe.  At this event, more than 100 exhibitors showcased their technologies and over 200 speakers provided insight from industry knowledge. This event highlighted the most innovative advancements in technologies which are affecting IoT and covered the entire Internet of Things ecosystem.

It's well known that the IoT is a huge potential market - according to Gartner, the market for IoT will reach nearly 21 billion connected devices by 2020. This is another indication of the growing importance of IoT and how connected devices, along with the data these devices collect are changing the way IoT is viewed within large businesses and enterprises.

It was important for us to participate at this event, as our recently launched CelloTrack Nano hub together with the low energy consumption MultiSense focuses on the IoT world.

IoT is constructed from various layers including sensing capabilities, a local hub, communication & security protocols, cloud infrastructure and a specific application.

At Cellocator we focus on giving our partners the field-based hardware infrastructure (local hub and sensing capabilities) to be used as part of a complete IoT solution that can be suited for a wide range of vertical markets.

The sessions discussing IoT market emphasized the following segments:

  • Industrial (interconnected manufacturing environment)
  • Smart cities (pollution monitoring, energy saving, parking management)
  • Logistic and supply chain management (cold chain - GDP compliance for the pharmaceutical industry)
  • Connected mHEALTH for ADL (Activity of Daily Living) for elder and chronic disease
  • Automotive – connected vehicles

Cellocator's CelloTrack Nano can offer a solution for each of these market segments.

In the IoT world there is a need for a variety of sensing capabilities including temperature, humidity, light sensing, accelerometer and location. The CelloTrack Nano solution creates a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) environment that can provide the sensing capabilities required by IoT market and enables real-time logic-processing, based on event-driven logic in order to reduce data transmission costs.

The WSN is based on low power BT smart communication for local short range data transition and Cellular 2G/3G for long rang outbound communication.

The CelloTrack Nano is integrated with the IoT cloud infrastructure powered by Telit's deviceWISE IoT platform, automatically performing all the critical connections, management and integration functions to enable rapid and simple deployments of the Nano system across markets and industries worldwide. We will soon be offering additional IoT cloud based platforms, please contact us for more information.
